Ubisoft’s Star Wars Outlaws is connected to the greater Star Wars universe in some interesting ways, and one of those ways will see the return of Lady Qi’ra.
Information on the character’s return comes from Game Informer, which spoke with developer Massive Entertainment about its open-world sci-fi spinoff. The adventure sees the main character Kay Vess coming face-to-face with various criminal bosses. According to Game Informer’s cover story, Lady Qi’ra will be among the bunch and represents Crimson Dawn.
Warning: Some plot details and one spoiler for Solo: A Star Wars Story below.
For those who don’t remember the formidable crime lord’s name, she appeared in 2018’s Solo: A Star Wars Story. Played by Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke, the character has a major role in the Han Solo prequel film and takes some dark turns by the time the credits roll. We last saw her speaking with an aged Darth Maul at the end of that movie but haven’t heard much from her since.
Clarke, however, will not be returning to play Qi’ra for the game, as Game Informer editor Brian Shea revealed on X/Twitter:
Regarding the Qi’ra in Star Wars Outlaws news: I’ve confirmed it will not be Emilia Clarke portraying her in the game.
— Brian Shea (@BrianPShea) April 9, 2024 Solo takes place many years before Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope sees Han team up with Luke and Leia to take down the Empire’s Death Star. Star Wars Outlaws, meanwhile, takes place between Episodes V and VI, meaning the Lady Qi’ra we’ll meet will be much older than the one from the movie. A screenshot from Game Informer (via ScreenTime) reveals a small peak at the character’s appearance.

— ScreenTime (@screentime) April 9, 2024 It’s unclear how large Lady Qi’ra’s role will be when it comes to the overall story Ubisoft hopes to tell. However, we did get a better look at Star Wars Outlaws’ heroes and villains in a story trailer revealed earlier today. So far, the spinoff looks like it’s trying its best to be the scoundrel simulator fans have always wanted. We’ll know more about how it fits into the Star Wars universe when it comes to PC via Ubisoft Connect, Amazon Luna, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X | S on August 30, 2024.

It’s interesting to see Lady Qi’ra making a return in Star Wars Outlaws, even if it’s not Emilia Clarke reprising the role. Do you think her presence will have a significant impact on the storyline, or will she be more of a background character in the game? Can’t wait to see how Ubisoft integrates her into the Star Wars universe!
