The supernatural spirit you play as in Slitterhead can possess anyone it comes across, but special “Rarity” characters can be recruited due to the unique powers they gain from being controlled. While you can forcibly take over everyone you come across, their blood is not strong enough to fend off the monsters you must fight. Rarities have strong combat abilities that help you fight back against various horrors.
