The original Resident Evil 2 has a release date on GOG.
The classic 1998 survival horror video game returns to PC on August 27, 2024. This version is based on the original PC version from 1998, and includes a “variety of quality of life improvements, compatibility with modern systems, full modern controller support, and even more,” GOG said.

- Full support for modern controllers (Sony DualSense, Sony DualShock 4, Microsoft Xbox Series, Microsoft Xbox One, Microsoft Xbox 360, Nintendo Switch, Logitech F series and many more) with optimal button binding regardless of the hardware and wireless mode.
- 4th Survivor and Tofu modes enabled from the very beginning.

GOG is slowly re-releasing the PC versions of the first three Resident Evil games, with 1997’s Resident Evil already available on the platform, and 2000’s Resident Evil 3 coming soon. Capcom has announced the next mainline Resident Evil game, dubbed Resident Evil 9 by fans, is in development, and the company is reportedly working on remakes of Resident Evil Zero and Code Veronica.
