While coal was the main fuel source in the original Frostpunk, Frostpunk 2 takes a different direction when your coal supplies start running low, forcing you to find a more permanent source of fuel: oil. You might think this is one of the nearby resource nodes surrounding New London, but after a quick scan, you’ll see that’s not the case. To find oil, you’ll need to go a little further afield. The exploration system is the same as in the original game, unlike some of the new systems introduced.
