Microsoft and Bethesda teased today that the Xbox game Hi-Fi Rush will be coming to PlayStation 5 on March 18.
In a surprise amount of drops from the green camp of Xbox, Hi-Fi Rush has been confirmed to be coming out on Sony’s PlayStation 5 for a March release date. The announcement from Bethesda today is still pending full confirmation that the game is coming to the PS5 on March 18th. The news broke as a YouTube video from Bethesda LATAM appeared and then went private.
This is massive news following the recent Nintendo announcement of Grounded and Pentiment being the first previously Xbox-exclusive games to arrive on Nintendo Switch. The YouTube description states this is a complete version of the game, with an Arcade Mode adding Full Time and Tower Assault. The description release date said March 19 versus the video’s March 18 release date, but more sources are pointing towards March 18.
Tango Gameworks’ music-based action game was initially launched on Xbox and PC on January 25, 2023. This was both expected and surprising at the same time, as part of Microsoft’s plan to push multiplatform games. Xbox head Phil Spencer spoke about this plan during last week’s Xbox business update. CGMagazine’s review of Hi-Fi Rush was a 9.5/10, describing it as “what would happen if Devil May Cry, modern day anime, and wholesome Saturday Morning Cartoons from the ‘80s and 90’s somehow conceived a love child.”
Microsoft revealed last week that it would be circulating four previously Xbox-exclusive games to other consoles like the PS5 and Nintendo Switch. The Verge called it, that the four games would be Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, Sea of Thieves, and Grounded. Rare’s Sea of Thieves is the only one left to be confirmed. Another thing unconfirmed is whether Hi-Fi Rush will also be out on Nintendo Switch.
Hi-Fi Rush will be available for pre-order on the PlayStation Store beginning tomorrow, and a Digital Deluxe Edition offers access to extra cosmetics and gear.
