In Hades, players have the ability to unlock Companions, who can help them defeat all kinds of different enemies throughout the game. These Companions can be hard to unlock, as you generally have to load them up with Nectar before you can even try to unlock them as a Companion. Once equipped, you cannot change a Companion out after you have started a run, making it important to try to pick the one you want most.
