In the middle of its first weekend following release on Friday, June 21, 2024, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree has fallen into the “Mixed” category of Steam user reviews. Shadow of the Erdtree is the long-awaited expansion to Elden Ring, the most expansive RPG yet by FromSoftware, the development house behind Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and many more. Although critical reception to Shadow of the Erdtree has seen almost uniform praise for the DLC, many players eager to return to Elden Ring during the expansion’s opening weekend have come away deflated.
