An Elden Ring player has received more runes than they know what to do with via a random interaction with a helpful stranger. Like most Soulsborne games, Elden Ring includes a system of player-versus-player invasions. In short, one player can opt to invade another random player’s world, popping up in a nearby location and attempting to kill them in exchange for their runes. But if the host defeats the invader, they’ll claim the hostile player’s runes instead. Although toxic invaders do exist, the invasion system is mostly a source of good, clean, adversarial fun.
