There is a large quest chain in Dragon Age: The Veilguard called the Regrets of the Dread Wolf. This quest chain will see you trying to open gates throughout The Crossroads, one of which will start a quest called the Gate of Lost Ages. To open this gate, you will have to find the right essence and bring it back to clear the way.
