While six of Baldur’s Gate 3‘s seven origin characters are present in the game as beloved companions, one, the Dark Urge, is a custom protagonist, similar to the default “Tav.” Unlike Tav, this character has a predetermined backstory and plays a very different role in the narrative. One of the most defining traits of the Dark Urge is their amnesia — it’s up to the player to piece together who they once were, and either atone for their past sins or add to them.
