AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT price, release date, and specs are out, looks awesome

AMD has finally lifted the lid on the fastest new gaming GPU in its RDNA 4 lineup, with a surprisingly competitive price, and the company is making some big claims about its performance too. According to the GPU maker, the new AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT is, on average, 42% faster than the Radeon RX 7900 GRE, with particularly big gains seen in ray tracing performance, and it also brings support for AMD’s new FSR 4 AI upscaling tech.

That GPU might seem like a bit of a weird card for comparison but, as we found in our Radeon RX 7900 GRE review, this mid-range AMD chip was surprisingly potent for its price, landing it a place on our guide to the best graphics card. AMD has historically always lagged behind Nvidia when it comes to ray tracing, but the company claims the new 9070 XT’s ray tracing performance improves by 66% compared to the 7900 GRE in Cyberpunk 2077 and F1 24. That’s a big deal for AMD, as the company’s GPUs have really struggled with ray tracing in Cyberpunk 2077 since the start.
