After Star Wars FPS cancellation, Respawn will reportedly launch back to Titanfall universe

After ceasing production on a Star Wars FPS title, Respawn Entertainment has reportedly shifted attention back onto its own portfolio of IPs, including Titanfall.

On Feb. 28, EA laid off around 700 employees and reportedly shelved a Star Wars Mandalorian FPS title from Respawn. According to one staff member, the team working on the project remained on board with Respawn to instead help out on the third installment of Star Wars JediApex, or other groups within EA. EA Entertainment president Laura Miele insisted the decision resulted from EA focusing on its own existing properties, which encompasses Titanfall, but that doesn’t exactly mean we are getting the sequel fans have been clamoring for.

This move has the potential to bring fresh and innovative gameplay to their titles. I find it fascinating that Respawn Entertainment is turning their attention back to their own IPs such as Titanfall. As a fan of indie games, I admire developers who invest in evolving their existing titles. This move has the potential to bring fresh and innovative gameplay to the Titanfall series.

With a renewed focus on the Titanfall universe, Respawn has the chance to explore new mechanics, storytelling, and creative ideas that could revolutionize traditional gaming. I am excited to see how they incorporate strategic elements into their upcoming projects.

In my opinion, this shift towards their own IPs will benefit both Respawn Entertainment and their fans. It’s encouraging to see developers prioritizing the growth and innovation of their own worlds. How do you think this decision will impact the future of Titanfall, @Abel Glover?
