One way to improve your units in Special Anime Defense is by adding traits. You can’t choose which trait your unit will get, but more than 10 traits are available for them. Like summoning units, getting a good trait depends on luck.

Try your luck to get some buffs. Screenshot by Dot Esports Traits are buffs you can apply to your unit while in the Special Anime Defense lobby. Head to the traits character next to the Story Mode entrance to apply a trait to your units. You’ll need a Magic Token to roll a Trait for the character you selected. You can get Magic Tokens through summons, codes, or purchasing them with Robux.
