Through the first half of Senua’s Saga Hellblade 2, I was unsure of what the point or theme of the sequel was supposed to be. But in the latter half of this Ninja Theory game, it dawned on me that this sequel to Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice was an exploration of the minds of monsters. Not just the gargantuan monsters that you read about in folklore, but the ones that are as human as you and I. Senua’s journey in Hellblade 2 is a step above the first game. Where Senua was originally climbing into the depths of Hell and battling against the demons in her mind, Hellblade 2 is Senua’s tale of the monsters that lurk on the surface of Midgard and in the depths of her mind that she once pushed away. Yet this time, she’s much stronger than before.
