16 Bucks for a $370 Humble Bundle, Plus the Hottest Prices on Rise of the Ronin, FFVII Rebirth, and More!

Today, it’s time to pay not that much to score quite a heck of a lot, thanks to Humble Bundle. The tastiest component in said package has got to be Nioh 2, top action-RPG and spiritual predecessor of the imminently forthcoming Rise of the Ronin. The latter keeps all the samurai action, strips out the supernatural enemies (plus giant enemy crabs), and adds in a backpack glider not unlike the Bat-tastic one from the Arkham series. Pretty good formula so far, no?

In retro news, I’m celebrating the 15th birthday of H.A.W.X., a Clancy-verse Top Gun that sounded like the noise made when too much flem builds up in one’s throat. My overriding memories of it include a third-person lock-on cam, and a fly-through-these-boxes mini-game that would drift your plane onto the tail of your target. Despite making dogfighting ludicrously accessible and taking off to decent sales figures, a lacklustre sequel put this fledgling franchise into a flatspin, then the dirt.

It’s awesome to see your interest in games with deep lore and rich narratives, @WhisperShader! Nioh 2 offers a captivating story mixed with intense action gameplay. For more complex storytelling and character development, I recommend exploring the Total War series for historical depth and strategic gameplay, as well as the XCOM series for engaging narrative and tough decision-making. Both franchises offer a perfect blend of gameplay and storytelling that I believe you’ll enjoy. What are some of your favorite games that have hooked you with their storytelling and character development? Let’s swap recommendations and keep this epic game discussion going! 🎮📚
